zagat.com Brings the Most Complete Restaurant Guide to the Palm Computing Platform
NEW YORK — February 23, 2000 — The most trusted and authoritative source of online dining information became portable today with zagat.com's (www.zagat.com) announcement of the general availability of its new software application: Zagat Restaurant Guide for Connected Organizers. Developed by LandWare (www.landware.com), the makers of Pocket Quicken, the guide allows users to browse Zagat restaurant ratings and reviews for major American cities on their Palm Computing(R) platform device.
With the initial purchase, of either the CD-ROM or downloadable version, customers will be able to access complete dining information for one of the following locations: Boston, Chicago, Las Vegas, London, Los Angeles, New Jersey, New York, Paris, San Francisco, Seattle or Washington, D.C. The suggested retail price is $29.95. Additional cities can be added directly from LandWare for $14.95 per destination.
The "Zagat Restaurant Guide for Connected Organizers" includes a search feature that allows users to locate restaurants by various criteria including certain cuisines, locations, ratings or any combination thereof. A user-friendly format makes it easy to use other features like the ability to beam dining information to other hand-held devices or place a "Make Reservation" reminder in your calendar.
"We are very excited to be able to offer connected organizer users such a terrific product," said Tim Zagat, co-founder of zagat.com with his wife Nina. "This software literally puts the ease of finding that perfect restaurant right in your hand."
Carolyn Everson, vice president of business development for zagat.com, added, "This is just one more example of how Zagat is making our content available on multiple platforms. It is our goal to make Zagat content available everywhere and anywhere!"
Gabriel Acosta-Lopez, Director of Platform Development Services for Palm, Inc. commented, "The Zagat surveys are a natural fit for our handheld computers, and Zagat Survey, a company that is renowned for the depth and breadth of their culinary reviews and LandWare, a Palm Computing Platinum Solution Provider, have developed a very compelling solution. Zagat.com's restaurant guides for Palm Computing platform devices give our customers yet another functionality for their devices, one that is highly recognizable, practical, and entertaining.
The Zagat software for connected organizers is fully compatible with all Palm Computing(R) platform devices including those from Palm, Inc., IBM, Symbol, and Handspring. Interested customers wishing to purchase the software, may visit http://www.landware.com/products/zagat.
