Puma Technology Ships Next Generation Intellisync for Windows CE Version 2.0

SAN JOSE, Calif. — March 23, 1998 — Puma Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ:PUMA), the leading provider of Mobile Date Exchange(TM) software solutions, is now shipping version 2.0 of Intellisync for Windows CE(R). The new version is available for $ 69.95 directly from Puma Technology at www.pumatech.com and from leading computer and software resellers nationwide. "Puma is pleased to extend its Intellisync synchronization support to the exciting new family of Windows CE 2.0-based Handheld PCs," said Brad Rowe, president and CEO of Puma, "Consumers using all Windows CE-based Handheld PCs and users of the new Palm PCs can experience the ease and convenience of our award-winning Intellisync solutions, enabling them to synchronize and simplify their lives."

Version 2.0 of Intellisync for Windows CE provides users of Windows CE 2.0-based Handheld PCs and Palm PCs with a significant enhanced synchronization solution that many users of the first-generation of Windows CE-based devices embraced. Intellisync for Windows CE also continues to support existing devices for Windows CE 1.0, seamlessly synchronizing data from all Windows CE-based devices and Palm PCs with a variety of PC-based personal information management (PIM), contact management, and groupware applications. The new version of Intellisync for Windows CE builds on its industry leading PC application support providing seamless synchronization with DayTimer Organizer, GoldMine, Lotus Organizer 97 GS, MeetingMaker, Microsoft Schedule+ and Outlook, Symantec ACT!, Starfish Sidekick, and other PC-based PIMs.

Version 2.0 of Intellisync for Windows CE also adds enhanced synchronization capabilities specifically designed for Microsoft Outlook(R) including Outlook Subfolders, Custom Designed Forms and User Defined Fields. Version 2.0 also provides new advanced synchronization capabilities including a powerful new custom filtering feature that allows users to conveniently select and synchronize only the information they want (e.g. only records marked as "business"). Users can even specify multi-condition filters for greater control. This feature is important for large databases, enabling users to optimize the storage in their Windows CE-based devices.

Intellisync provides busy people with a simple mechanism to get the most out of their notebook and/or handheld digital devices by enabling them to keep their professional and personal lives in sync at all times. As a result, consumers will no longer encounter schedule conflicts or missed appointments due to out of date or missing information. Version 2.0 of Intellisync for Windows CE supports the new generation of Windows CE-based Handheld PCs from companies such as Compaq, Hewlett-Packard, Hitachi and Casio. New players in the segment for Windows CE, including Canon, Fujitsu and Sharp are either shipping or have announced plans to ship devices using the Windows CE 2.0 operating system. Users may keep their Intellisync software completely up-to-date with the optional Premier Upgrade Subscription Service.

New Intellisync users can purchase an annual subscription to the Premier Upgrade Subscription Service for $ 39.95 at the time of the initial Intellisync purchase. This brings the user automatic unlimited Intellisync software upgrades for an entire year offering buyer's protection, convenience and savings over individual upgrade options purchased separately at $ 34.95. Current users who decide to subscribe to Puma's Premier Upgrade Subscription Service can receive the same unlimited services for the annual fee of $ 49.95. Corporate site licenses are available through Puma's Intellisync Gold synchronization solution, which encompasses all Intellisync supported mobile devices including 3Com PalmPilot connected organizers, Windows CE handheld PCs, Sharp and TI organizers, and other smart phones, pagers and devices.

DSX TECHNOLOGY — THE POWERFUL INTELLISYNC ENGINE

Puma's DSX technology is the core of all Intellisync solutions, is protected by four United States patents and is the subject of other patents pending. DSX technology accurately synchronizes information between popular contact and scheduling applications and mobile devices. It ensures that all the information contained in these devices and applications is kept in sync as changes are made on a continual basis within the different device environments. DSX technology can go so far as to resolve the intricate differences between how various features and functions of the handheld devices and applications are implemented and also recognize double-backings or possible entry mistakes such as conflicting appointments or mismatched phone numbers.
