Newton, Inc. Introduces Business Focus at PC Expo
NEW YORK, PC EXPO — June 16, 1997 — The Newton, Inc. team is making its first major industry appearance today at PC Expo, less than a month after spinning out from Apple to become a wholly owned subsidiary. Newton, Inc. will be exhibiting in its own booth at the show, supported by a number of leading software developers. (Booth# 502, Jacob K. Javitz Center, 655 West 34th Street, New York, from June 16 – 19, 1997)
In addition to their presence at the show, the Company will be holding a launch press reception* at Windows on the World, One World Trade Center on Monday June 16 from 6:00 pm at which chief operating officer Sandy Benett will expand on the Company's vision for the future.
The new company will develop products and licensable technologies to meet the computing and communications needs of today's corporate mobile users. It's initial primary focus is on the markets where it has already achieved considerable success with the MessagePad 2000 product, including healthcare, sales force automation, and field service industries.
The Company will provide Newton technologies, including the Newton operating system, hardware, software development tools, APIs, and documentation to enable the development of software and peripheral products for these target markets.

The Newton team will also be doing its best to ease some of the traditional tradeshow frustrations. Twenty volunteers will walk the show floor armed with information-packed MessagePad 2000s which have all the data on PC Expo from conference tracks, company booth numbers, and keynote speakers, as well as bus schedules, restaurants, Broadway shows, and more.
