Mobile Insights Announces WirelessTrax Continuous Information Service

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. — February 8, 2000 — Mobile Insights, Inc., the leading provider of information and analysis on the world of mobile computing and data communications, today announced the WirelessTrax(TM) continuous information service, complementing the firm's established and respected MobileTrax offering.

Where MobileTrax focuses on mobile computing of all forms and the communications facilities necessary to link mobile devices to enterprise networks, WirelessTrax is designed to cover both voice and data wireless communications with equal depth and insightful analysis.

"It's essentially impossible to decouple mobile computing and wireless communications today," says Dr. J. Gerry Purdy, President and CEO of Mobile Insights, Inc. "While MobileTrax has included coverage of key wireless industry developments for some time, we believe that the rapidly growing and diverse field of wireless communications now needs its own service. We view MobileTrax and WirelessTrax as complementary to one another, and, using both, subscribers will find it easy to map out strategies that work as both wireless technologies and the resulting products continue their rapid evolution."

WirelessTrax is designed for equipment designers, manufacturers, and vendors, as well as carriers and end-users in medium-to-large corporations. Each week, a WirelessTrax deliverable will be presented to subscribers and archived on the Mobile Insights Web site for easy reference. Specific WirelessTrax items include:

— Reports and White Papers — These in-depth examinations of wireless products, services, and technologies provide readers with not just the facts, but how the topic of the document will impact the industry and users alike. Topics to be covered include wireless data, emerging broadband systems and services, the quest for the ideal mobile communications device, mobile phones, and wireless access to the Internet and the Web. Reports include detailed analyses of what industry happenings really mean and include the reasoning behind the conclusions, often more important than the conclusions themselves. White Papers look at major industry directions in even greater depth.

— Alerts — These quick updates cover what's happening in the industry, the facts behind the events, and the significance (or lack thereof) of the latest product and service announcements. Alerts always cover an important item in the news.

— Management Profiles — Each month's material will include an interview with a member of the senior management team at both key industry leaders and emerging companies that have something interesting going on. Readers will get a transcript of the interview and insights into strategies that work, and even a few that don't.

Selected as Director of the WirelessTrax service is well-known industry analyst Craig Mathias, a Principal with Farpoint Group in Ashland, Mass. "I'm delighted to be working with Gerry and the team at Mobile Insights on this exciting new venture," says Mathias. "I think I bring a unique perspective to wireless as the result of nine years of hands-on work at Farpoint Group. Never have the opportunities in wireless been greater, and the years ahead promise exciting new products and services for essentially everyone, but especially enterprise users." Farpoint Group will also cooperate with Mobile Insights on specific client-directed projects.

WirelessTrax begins full operations in February 2000. For more information on WirelessTrax and other services of Mobile Insights, Inc., go to www.mobileinsights.com.
