Mobile Insights Announces Major Expansion For 2000; Five Conferences Headline Growth

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. — November 15, 1999 — Mobile Insights (MI), the leading information source for the mobile computing and data communications markets, announced today major expansion for 2000 and the promotion of two staff members to vice president.

Mobile Insights will offer five major industry conferences in 2000:

1. Mobile Insights 2000, March 3-5, Marriott Desert Springs Resort, Palm Springs. This conference will bring together approximately 500 of the top mobile computing and data communications industry executives in its sixth annual industry gathering. It features the fifth annual Mobile Foundation Auction and announcement of the Mobility Awards, honoring the best and finest products in the mobile industry.

2. Mobile Perspectives, May 15, Grand Hyatt Hotel, Taipei, Taiwan. This conference brings together the leading original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and the top U.S. mobile systems companies to share in the future of the notebook and handheld industry.

3. Let's Mobile, May 18, site to be determined in Tokyo, Japan. This conference pairs the leading mobile and wireless vendors in Japan with the system vendors of the U.S., enabling each to learn about the other's markets to help advance mobile and wireless computing.

4. Go Mobile Europe, July 10-12, The Arts Hotel, Barcelona, Spain. This is an extension of the successful Go Mobile conference for IT decision-makers that will focus on bringing together the top IT decision-makers in Europe to discuss where mobile computing is going in the European market.

5. Go Mobile 2000, Oct. 3-5, site to be determined. This is the second annual conference for IT decision-makers. It brings together 250 leading IT executives to understand and discuss the future of the mobile market as it relates to IT mobile system acquisition and deployment.

These five conferences are joined by the company's MobileTrax Online continuous information service for vendors in the mobile computing market. It provides 50+ reports annually on mobile computing and data communications, delivered via email and over the Web. Most major firms doing business in mobile computing and data communications subscribe to MobileTrax Online.

In addition to the expanded programs, Mobile Insights has promoted two executives to help manage growth and expansion. Theresa Barry Nozick, industry analyst for Mobile Insights for the past two years, has been promoted to Vice President, Market Research, and is responsible for managing the company's five industry analysts and editors. Kathy Helmick has been promoted to Vice President, Operations, and is responsible for managing the company's non-analyst staff and the business operations of the company.

Nozick is a computer industry veteran, having worked as Managing Editor and Executive Editor of PC Portables magazine, a Beverly Hills, California-based consumer magazine devoted to mobile computing technology, issues and trends. Previously, she worked for three years as Executive Editor of MIS publications at Auerbach Publishers in New York City, where she managed the editorial production of 12 publications focusing on software and database technology and end-user computing. And before that she worked for four years as an editor at Datamation Magazine, a bi-monthly trade magazine geared toward high-end corporate computing. Nozick received her degree from Rutgers College in New Jersey.

Kathy Helmick, VP, Operations

Helmick has 15 years of experience spanning all areas of accounting and management in both public and private industry. She began at Mobile Insights five years ago as the Circulation Manager for Mobile Letter and has received several promotions to her current position. She is responsible for the accounting, networking, and daily office operations of the company. She has also been instrumental in designing and implementing databases that are used to track and record information for the various business units within the company. Immediately prior to joining Mobile Insights she worked for the business department of the Fremont Union High School District.
