Macworld Magazine Names 16th Annual Editors’ Choice Award Finalists
November 16, 2000 — Macworld magazine, the premier Macintosh monthly, today named finalists for the sixteenth Annual Macworld Editors' Choice Awards.
Winners will be announced at a gala ceremony to be held on the eve of Macworld Expo San Francisco — Monday January 8, 2001.
The Eddy Awards, the Macintosh industry's highest distinction for breakthrough product development, are given to honor the top software and hardware products in the Mac market. To be eligible, new products must have been released between November 1, 1999 and November 1, 2000. There is no submission process for the Eddy awards. Macworld editors and the Macworld Lab review hundreds of new products every year, evaluating each for technological innovation, quality, performance, user friendliness, and value in order to determine the finalist list.
Macworld's Director of Product Evaluation, Kristina DeNike, headed up the selection process this year. "The Eddy Awards recognize innovation, value and excellence. This is our opportunity to recognize companies who are producing exciting and unusual products. For example, 2000 has been a great year for imaging hardware — we've seen a burst of new cameras and digital video camcorders. In the software category, we've had strong updates to established leaders and inspired new applications as well," reported Ms. DeNike.
In addition to the Eddy categories listed below, awards will be given for Hardware Product of the Year, Software Product of the Year, and Technology of the Year as well as an Impact Award and a Lifetime Achievement Award. Winners will be published in the March, 2001 issue of Macworld magazine and on macworld.com following the ceremony on January 8th.
