GO Corp. and No Hands Software Announce Common Ground Mini-Viewer for PenPoint

FOSTER CITY, Calif. — August 2, 1993 — GO Corp. and No Hands Software Monday announced the Common Ground Mini-Viewer for PenPoint.

Jointly developed by GO and No Hands, the application enables users to display, distribute and print identical copies of any Macintosh or Windows document on a PenPoint-based personal communicator.

PenPoint is the leading operating system for mobile computing and communications. The Common Ground Mini-Viewer for PenPoint is the latest addition to a growing set of desktop integration solutions now available for PenPoint. These products enable PenPoint users to exchange information between their personal communicators and desktop PCs.

"The Common Ground Mini-Viewer enables a whole new breadth of universal document viewing capabilities for PenPoint devices," said Mike Horner, GO vice president of marketing. "With the Mini-Viewer, PenPoint users will not only be able to view and print documents created on a desktop machine, but also retrieve professional quality documents through information services. And, at less than 50K, the application is ideally suited for mobile devices where memory can be especially valuable."

The Common Ground Mini-Viewer retains all native fonts and formatting, enabling users of PenPoint-based devices to maintain document integrity when displaying presentations and other documents, like desktop published newsletters or brochures, originally created on desktop computers. Users can even include the Mini-Viewer and send documents electronically through GO Mail, PenPoint's electronic mail application.

The Mini-Viewer is part of Common Ground 1.0, an electronic document exchange and distribution program that lets users create documents that anyone can view and print without having the creating applications or fonts on their system. Common Ground is based on No Hands' DigitalPaper, the technology that converts documents created in any application into a platform-independent file format.

"This affirms our commitment to place basic Common Ground viewing and printing capabilities on all major platforms," said Tony Stayner, vice president of marketing at No Hands Software. "Operating systems vendors interested in platform independent viewing and printing of formatted text and graphics are finding DigitalPaper's smaller, faster approach to be the deciding factor."

The Common Ground Mini-Viewer for Intel 80386- and 80486-based PenPoint devices will be available later this quarter directly from GO. The company will charge a nominal fee for cost of goods, shipping and handling. The application will also be available via on-line bulletin board services. GO is currently working with OEMs to make the Common Ground Mini-Viewer available on 80386-, 80486- and Hobbit-based devices later this year.

Common Ground for Macintosh is now available from No Hands Software and authorized resellers for a suggested retail price of $189.95. Common Ground for Windows will ship this fall and will have a suggested retail price of $189.95.
