Fujitsu Bundles CIC’s Handwriter Recognition Software on New Stylistic 1000RF Mobile Computing Solution
REDWOOD SHORES, Calif. — September 30, 1996 — Fujitsu Personal Systems, Inc. (FPSI) introduced today the Stylistic 1000RF, a powerful Windows 95 compatible tablet PC bundled with Communication Intelligence Corporation's (CIC) Handwriter Recognition System Software. CIC believes that because this new tablet includes wireless LAN technology, it is well-suited for vertical market decision-support applications in healthcare, commodities trading, hospitality, market surveying and sales force automation.
"By adding wireless LAN communications, the Stylistic 1000RF offers a compelling solution to address the unique needs of mobile workers. The performance of CIC's Handwriter Recognition System provides the critical means for accurate one-handed input on the go," said Geoff Walker, marketing vice president of Fujitsu Personal Systems.
"We believe the combination of the Stylistic 1000 with Handwriter Recognition System provides a powerful solution for the demanding vertical markets," said Jeff Dao, vice president of marketing and sales at CIC. "CIC believes with the new Stylistic 1000RF, companies will benefit from increased productivity of their mobile work force. We are pleased to be a standard part of Fujitsu's latest breakthrough product."
Field Applications:
Two examples of applications for which CIC believes the Stylistic 1000RF is particularly well-suited are healthcare and commodities trading. Hospital clinicians using the Stylistic 1000RF chart directly to the hospital's database as they treat patients. The charting is more accurate, more quantified, and enables outcome analysis and billing. The pen and Handwriter Recognition System provide benefits which include increased chart accuracy through elimination of illegible handwritten orders, reduced operating cost through elimination of the need for medical transcription and improved analysis of patient outcomes.
CIC believes that commodities and options trading firms may achieve faster returns on their investment in wireless tablets. The combination of ease of use with sophisticated real-time data analysis and immediate wireless access to back-office databases and information from other exchanges offer a competitive advantage to the savvy securities trader. The combination of the 8-inch color LCD, which makes reading charts and graphs relatively easy, and the familiar feeling the tablet provides as a writing surface, should make it easier to communicate directly with the trading floor.
Handwriter Recognition System (HRS) delivers recognition "out of the box" without requiring user training. HRS supports recognition of common editing marks or "gestures." Additionally, CIC has included an advanced Control Panel (The Handwriter Manager) which provides a user friendly training wizard, an animated gesture tutorial, and allows for additional customization.
The Fujitsu Stylistic 1000RF is available for immediate shipment and is bundled with CIC's Handwriter Recognition System software on every unit.
