Apple Announces Nationwide Rebate Program for MessagePad 120s

CUPERTINO, Calif. — May 10, 1995 — In an effort to make the award-winning MessagePad 120 available to a wider number of potential customers, Apple Computer, Inc. (Nasdaq-NNM: AAPL) today announced a rebate program offering between $50-$100 back with the purchase of the MessagePad 120 and a qualified accessory.

Beginning immediately and running through the end of July, customers who purchase an Apple MessagePad 120 will receive a $50 rebate while those who buy an eligible accessory in addition to the MessagePad will receive a $100 rebate. Eligible accessories include: the Newton Connection Kit v.2.0 for either Macintosh or Windows, the external or PCMCIA fax modem, the 2MB or 4MB flash storage card, the Newton Print Pack, the battery charging station, the leather zip case or the Newton enhancement pack.

"In an effort to build upon the already growing momentum behind the Newton platform, we are offering this rebate to encourage more people to try the MessagePad 120, our market-leading Personal Digital Assistant (PDA)," said Larry Reich, director of Marketing and Sales, Newton Solutions Group. "In addition to all of the customary features PDA products provide including eMail, faxing, and contact management, Apple MessagePad customers can take advantage of desktop connectivity to their Windows or Mac OS-based machines, as well as the more than 100 commercial and 600 shareware applications available for the product and other Newton-based devices."

Fulfillment

To participate in the rebate program, customers must purchase the aforementioned products, between May 1 and July 31, 1995, from any Apple authorized reseller. In order to receive the rebate, customers need to mail the completed coupon, together with the proof of purchase, to the fulfillment house by August 31, 1995. Coupons may be obtained at the MessagePad 120 point-of-purchase displays starting at the end of May, or immediately via AppleLink, America Online, CompuServe and ftp.info.apple.com. Customers may also call the Newton Information Service Hotline at 800-909-0260, to have a rebate form faxed to them.
