3Com Corporation announced the new 3Com(R) HomeConnect(TM) PC

digital camera, providing users a high-quality, portable video

solution for desktop and laptop computers equipped with USB

(Universal Serial Bus). The 3Com HomeConnect PC digital camera is

designed for PCs running Windows(R) 95, 98 and 2000 plugging

directly into standard USB ports for a fast, easy-to-use, mobile

video connection. The HomeConnect PC digital camera is the first

product to ship under the 3Com HomeConnect brand name, which will

include a variety of products for Internet access and home

networking.

SMALL BUSINESS CONNECTIVITY AND LAN SOLUTIONS

— THE 3COM NBX(R) 100 COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM

3Com's new NBX(R) 100 is a distributed communications system that

uses dedicated DSPs at every network interface, 3Com Business

Telephone and CO line port. By pushing processing power down to

every endpoint, 3Com is able to provide customers with a

future-proof platform. 3Com's distributed architecture is capable

of modifying protocols, compression techniques, network QoS

services and network management, to name a few, all the way to

the point of communications origination. The NBX 100 is available

today and operates independent of the data on the LAN,

co-existing on NT, NetWare, Apple, and UNIX LANs.

THE LATEST IN HANDHELD COMPUTING

— 3COM AND SUN BRING THE POWER OF JAVA(TM) TECHNOLOGY TO THE PALM

COMPUTING(R) PLATFORM

3Com Corporation and Sun Microsystems announced their commitment

to tightly integrate Sun's Java(TM) technology with the

industry-leading Palm Computing(R) platform. At the Java

Developers Conference in San Francisco's Moscone Center, Sun and

3Com outlined plans to develop a reference port of the Java(TM) 2

Platform, Micro Edition, Sun's highly optimized Java runtime

environment for consumer products, for 3Com's Palm(TM) operating

system (Palm OS(TM)) software later this year. The companies also

agreed to make Sun's K Virtual Machine (KVM), formerly known as

project KJava VM, a key component of the Java 2 Platform, Micro

Edition, available on the Palm OS software. The companies will

develop an end-to-end solution for delivering content and Java

applications to Palm Computing platform devices via Sun's

software products.

— 3COM AND NTT DoCoMo TEAM TO ADVANCE WIRELESS DATA SERVICES FOR

THE PALM COMPUTING(R)PLATFORM IN JAPAN

3Com Corporation and NTT Mobile Communications Network, Inc.,

Japan's largest mobile communications operator today announced a

strategic technical and business alliance to develop new wireless

services for the Palm Computing(R) platform. Plans include

creating and developing solutions and services to expand the

usage of Palm Computing platform devices over wireless networks

in Japan. The companies will work to integrate 3Com's

world-leading handheld computing and wireless application

technologies with NTT DoCoMo's wireless network infrastructure.

This joint research and development is intended to bring the

benefits of instant remote access to important personal, business

and Internet information to an increasing number of Japanese

handheld computing users.

— 3COM DELIVERS THE PALM VII(TM) ORGANIZER FOR OUT-OF-THE-BOX

WIRELESS INTERNET ACCESS

Palm Computing, Inc., a 3Com company, announced availability of

the Palm VII(TM) connected organizer, the newest addition to

3Com's world-leading family of handheld products based on the

Palm Computing(R) platform. The Palm VII organizer uses a

wireless connection and the new Palm.Net(SM) wireless service to

enable users to easily obtain information from the Internet,

conduct e-commerce transactions and send and receive instant

messages. The Palm VII organizer is now available at retailers in

the New York Metropolitan tri-state area — including

Connecticut, New Jersey and New York — for an estimated street

price of U.S. $ 599. It is expected to be available nationally

later this year.

— 3COM UNVEILS NEW DATA-OVER-CABLE SUPPORT PROGRAMS OPERATORS AND

3Com Corporation introduced two new cable modem support programs

at Cable '99, the National Cable Television Association (NCTA)

Trade Show in Chicago. Drawing upon the company's long-time

experience in analog modem customer service and support, 3Com is

creating the industry's first online cable modem support system

for consumers and operators, as part of the 3Com(R) Knowledgebase

support system. The company is also introducing a new

cable-specific telephone service for operators, designed to

facilitate user-friendly technical support.

— TIME WARNER CHOOSES 3COM(R) CABLE MODEMS FOR LOS ANGELES, ORANGE

COUNTY MARKET

3Com Corporation announced that Time Warner Cable's Los Angeles

(d.b.a. Time Warner Communications) has selected 3Com(R) cable

modems to provide high-speed Internet access and multimedia

services to the Los Angeles, Orange County market. The 3Com

external two-way cable modem recently earned CableLabs

certification, a rigorous standard of approval for cable modems

that offer the highest level of interoperability and performance

among cable systems and assurance of competitive, quality

products in the retail channels.

— 3COM ACHIEVES INTEROPERABILITY WITH G.LITE ADSL PRODUCTS

In a move designed to spur widespread deployment of digital

subscriber line technology, 3Com Corporation has confirmed that

its G.lite capable product line is interoperable with numerous

vendors' central office products and several G.lite platforms.

This announcement from 3Com addresses more than 90 percent of the

expected worldwide G.lite market. 3Com's ADSL products have

attained interoperability with five different G.lite platforms

and more than 10 central office equipment vendors. This

encompasses more than 10 major DSLAMs (also known as central

office equipment products), including those based on ADI,

Alcatel, Globespan, PairGain Technologies Inc. and Texas

Instruments platforms.
