Prudential First to Deliver Wireless 401(k) Retirement Plan Access Through Palm VII Device

NEWARK, NJ — November 22, 1999 — Prudential Retirement Services announced today that it is the first provider to offer wireless access to 401(k), 403(b) and 457 retirement plan information for users of the Palm VII organizer, the wireless hand-held organizer from Palm Computing, Inc., a 3Com company. This will be possible through the Prudential web clipping application for the Palm VII organizer, which will access web content via the wireless Palm.Net(SM) service.

The solution will enable Prudential Retirement Services clients and Palm VII users to check account balances, fund prices and individual fund balances. Like Prudential's Online Retirement Center web site – www.prudential.com/online/retirement – all information is updated daily.

"We are excited to be the first in the nation to offer "Prudential Anywhere" access to a basic range of 401(k) retirement plan information," said Kenneth Montgomery, president of Prudential Retirement Services. "As this service grows, Prudential will offer more advanced information and services, including transaction capabilities."

"This service lets Prudential provide secure, personalized account access to our customers on their terms. We give them access over the Internet, on the phone, and now anywhere in the US with a Palm VII device. It's information on demand, anytime, anywhere," Montgomery added.

"Prudential's use of the Palm VII organizer provides customers with mobile Internet access to a variety of financial services around the clock," said Scott Lincke, director of wireless products of Palm Computing, Inc. "Prudential's financial services expertise and the state-of-the-art technology of the Palm VII organizer further extends solutions for online financial management."

The Palm VII organizer is the first hand-held solution for out-of-the-box wireless communications and Internet access. In addition to providing fast and simple access to personal and business information, the Palm VII organizer enables users to quickly, easily and securely obtain information from Web sites, conduct e-commerce transactions, and send instant two-way personal messages.
