Club Photo Aligns With PalmGear H.Q. to Offer Internet Photo Sharing Capabilities to Palm Organizer Users
SAN JOSE, Calif. — August 30, 1999 — Club Photo(TM), creator of Living Album 99(TM) and a leader of integrated photo sharing and finishing over the Internet, has allied with PalmGear H.Q.(TM), the one stop source for PalmOS(TM) software and accessories, to create the first solution for online and portable photo sharing for users of Palm Connected Organizers(TM). The agreement provides PalmGear H.Q. customers with the ability and infrastructure to create and share entire photo albums with friends and family around the world using Palm Connected Organizers and the Club Photo/PalmGear online photo sharing community.
The PalmGear H.Q./Club Photo site (http://palmgear.clubphoto.com) provides PalmOS device users with a personal photo sharing Web site, Living Album photo management software for the desktop, and Album To Go photo sharing software that supports the complete line of PalmOS devices, all free of charge.
This unprecedented alliance changes the face of photography and photo sharing throughout the broad-based Palm Connected Organizer community. It is the first time that a true photo sharing and finishing company, Club Photo, has linked itself to a true PDA solutions provider, PalmGear H.Q.
The result of this partnership will give PalmGear H.Q. customers access to the world's first photo Album To Go, global photo sharing, and finishing services.
"For the first time, the collaborative efforts of PalmGear H.Q. and Club Photo have integrated the entire process of photo sharing, ordering, and photo-finishing, to extend the entire experience to the Palm Computing(R) platform community," said Andrew Wei, president and CEO of Club Photo Inc.
"Our unified vision will transform today's cumbersome print-first, share-later model into a fully contained online photo/Palm Computing community. This will completely change the value proposition of PalmOS devices as we know it today." "By extending Club Photo's photo sharing and finishing model to the Palm Computing Platform, we are opening a new market opportunity for PalmOS devices to a whole new group of consumer-oriented users," said J.D. Crouch, chief marketing officer at PalmGear H.Q.
"Now professionals, moms, kids and grandparents alike can use PalmOS organizers as a way to share photographs. We see our partnership with Club Photo as a seamless progression of offering more value to our extensive and evolving community of PalmOS device enthusiasts."
The PalmGear/Club Photo H.Q. Advantage
The site will provide full customer service beginning today at http:/palmgear.clubphoto.com. Using Club Photo's Album To Go photo sharing software, the online Album Manager, or the award-winning Living Album, PalmGear H.Q. users will have the opportunity to arrange, organize, and share all of their favorite photographs at the PalmGear H.Q./Club Photo site on the World Wide Web.
Club Photo automates the entire sharing process by automatically transforming the organized album into a photo web page and uploading the entire photo album onto the member's personal photo Web site with just a couple clicks of the mouse.
Users can then invite friends, family and associates from around the globe to share the photo experience, order reprints, and order specialized photo-based gifting items like mugs, mouse pads, cookies, and the like.
Album To Go
Club Photo continues to redefine photography with the introduction of Album To Go, the world's first interactive hand-held photo album solution for Palm(TM) Connected Organizers. Album To Go enables Palm device users to download photos from their Club Photo online albums or drag-and-drop pictures directly from their computers, using Album To Go Desktop, to create portable digital albums.
At the next HotSync operation, the pictures are then transferred into the Palm device and displayed immediately, in 16-bit or 4-bit grayscale, to family, friends and co-workers. Palm device users can also download photos shared by friends, family, and associates from their Club Photo site by simply clicking on the desired photo. Once in the Palm device, the images can be beamed to other devices for easy sharing of photos globally and portably. The photos can be viewed one at a time or shown as a slide show with built-in special effects.
