Geoff Walker and Chris Claudatos Promoted to Vice President Positions at Fujitsu Personal Systems
SANTA CLARA, Calif. — April 16, 1996 — Fujitsu Personal Systems Inc. recently announced two new promotions within their organizations: Geoff Walker, formerly director of product marketing, has been promoted to vice president of marketing; and Chris Claudatos has been promoted from director of market planning and development to vice president of operations and planning.
"We have experienced phenomenal growth over the past three years – 100 percent compounded annually – so that Fujitsu now holds 48 percent of the handheld computer market," said Lou Panetta, chief operating officer. "While many of the early competitors have exited the field, the market remains highly competitive. Our success is the result of the efforts of key contributors such as Geoff Walker and Chris Claudatos. Their promotions allow us to leverage their leadership to take full advantage of the expansive new opportunities ahead."
Walker led the product marketing teams that brought the flagship Stylistic 500 and the recently announced Stylistic 1000 to market. He was the cohesive force bringing together customer requirements with engineering capabilities to make the right products at the right time.
In his role as vice president of marketing, Walker oversees the company's marketing communications, product marketing and channel activities. He joined Fujitsu Personal Systems in 1993 as the director of product marketing. Walker holds bachelor of science degrees in English and Electrical Engineering from Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute and completed all course work for a master of business administration degree in marketing from New York University. He has over 20 years of experience in the mobile and small computer business. Prior to Fujitsu, Walker held technical, marketing and management positions at GRiD Systems and Hewlett-Packard.
Claudatos served as the key link between Fujitsu, their VARs and their customers during critical contract negotiations. His business acumen and negotiation skills shortened the potentially lengthy process and paved the way to the smooth execution of significant contracts for Fujitsu.
As vice president of operations and planning, Claudatos is responsible for Fujitsu's operations, purchasing, IQC, business planning and forecasts. He has been with the company since 1992 and held the position of director of market planning and development since 1994. Claudatos has more than 15 years of experience in the computer industry in a variety of domestic and international management capacities. He brings with him a wealth of experience from ITT Corp., DSC Communications Corp. and Sun Microsystems Inc.
