Communication Intelligence Corp. and Fujitsu Personal Systems Inc. Announce New Product Bundle
REDWOOD SHORES, Calif. — March 25, 1996 — Communication Intelligence Corp. (OTC Bulletin Board: CICI) and Fujitsu Personal Systems Inc. (Fujitsu) jointly announced today that Fujitsu has selected CIC's Handwriter Recognition System software as the standard recognizer for its new Stylistic 1000, which Fujitsu believes is the fastest, smallest, lightest pen tablet in the market.
Handwriter Recognition System (HRS) 5.0 delivers recognition "out of the box" without requiring user training. HRS 5.0 also supports recognition of common editing marks or "gestures," a feature that is not available in Microsoft's Pen Services 2.0 for Windows 95. Additionally, CIC has included an advanced Control Panel for HRS 5.0 (The Handwriter Manager) which provides a user friendly training wizard, an animated gesture tutorial, and allows for additional customization not available with the basic Pen Services 2.0 package.
The Stylistic 1000, which carries the "Designed for Microsoft Windows 95," logo, ships with Windows 95 and CIC's HRS 5.0. Powered by a 100 MHz 486 DX4-class microprocessor, the fastest ever designed into a tablet computer, this handheld PC weighs only 3.4 pounds and delivers longer battery life, more screen options — including DSTN color — and more connectivity than any other tablet PC.
"Fujitsu's target markets include healthcare, utilities, sales automation and insurance — all markets with a high demand for worker productivity and mobility with the need for an on-site, instantaneous decision support," said Geoff Walker, vice president of marketing at Fujitsu Personal Systems. "The Stylistic 1000 provides industrial-strength computing power to meet these demands. CIC's HRS 5.0 enhances our product's strength by providing intuitive handwriting recognition software that is powerful enough for Windows 95 yet gives VARs and systems integrators the ability to build custom, user-friendly applications."
"We are very pleased to offer HRS as a basic capability of Fujitsu's products," said Michael McFarland, CIC's president and chief operating officer. "We believe the combination of the power of the Stylistic 1000 with CIC's robust handwriting recognition creates powerful solutions for Fujitsu's customers."
