Louis Panetta Named as Chief Operating Officer at Fujitsu Personal Systems Inc.
SANTA CLARA, Calif. — March 11, 1996 — Louis Panetta, formerly executive vice president of marketing and sales, has been named to the newly created position of chief operating officer at Fujitsu Personal Systems, Inc.
In his new role a COO, Panetta will oversee all day-to-day operations for this division which makes handheld mobile computers for vertical market applications, worldwide.
"Our business has grown over 100% compounded annually for three consecutive years and it has become clear that we need to consolidate our strategic decision making and our international operations to keep us on this steep growth path," said Akio Hanada, president of Fujitsu Personal Systems, Inc. "Mr. Panetta will now be responsible for the development and global sales of the products required to continue our leadership role in the rapidly developing mobile computing market."
Panetta held the post of executive vice president of Fujitsu Personal Systems for the past two years and was vice president of sales for Novell, Inc. before joining Fujitsu in 1992. "Fujitsu has all the technology, resources and financial strength to continue to expand its position in the strategic markets of healthcare, insurance, utilities and sales automation," said Mr. Panetta. "The market for mobile computers is explosive and we are perfectly positioned to lead this growth."
Louis Panetta is a native of Rochester, New York and graduated from Niagara University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics. He also held sales, marketing and customer service management positions at GRiD Systems and Faraday Electronics.
