PCMCIA Showcases its Largest Gallery Ever at COMDEX
LAS VEGAS — November 10, 1993 — Building on the rapid growth and acceptance of PC Card technology, the Personal Computer Memory Card International Association will showcase the largest exhibition of PCMCIA-compatible products ever in its Comdex Gallery '93 booth LN107-108.
More than 100 member companies are participating in the 4,000+ square foot exhibit space which will include displays and demonstrations of over 100 different PCMCIA-based products.
Included in the Gallery will be a wide range of PC Cards, including memory cards, data/fax modems, LAN adapters, combination modem/LAN adapters, wireless adapters, rotating disk drives and more, as well as many of the most popular PCMCIA-compatible notebook PCs. In addition, several software vendors will be demonstrating the Card and Socket Service software that gives PCMCIA many of its unique benefits. According to PCMCIA Executive Director, Brendan McGuire, ''This is the largest display and demonstration of PC Card technology ever held. Never before have so many vendors worked so closely to demonstrate such a breadth of PCMCIA-compatible products. And with the broad mix of attendees at the Fall Comdex show, it's only fitting that this venue be chosen to showcase them.''
The goal of this year's Gallery is to show not only how many PCMCIA-compatible products are available, but how well they work with each other. According to PCMCIA Chairman, Anthony Wutka, ''In the past, there was only a limited number of products available, and users had concerns about their functionality and compatibility. Now, with the broader presence of Card and Socket Service software, combined with the increased cooperation and testing among the card and platform vendors, we want to show the users and resellers that they really have a choice of quality products that do what they are expected to. With over 100 products on display, it's a great example of how much support there is for the PC Card technology and how rapidly it's being adopted across the board.''
McGuire explained, ''This year's Gallery is the place to come and see the latest PCMCIA-based products and talk with the experts of this new and fascinating technology which is empowering the advancement and growth of the mobile computing industry.''
To encourage attendees to see as many of the products as possible, PCMCIA buttons will be given to those who visit a minimum number of exhibitor's booths. In addition, an updated PCMCIA Reference Book listing all of the newest PCMCIA-based products will be available in the booth. The Gallery booth also includes press rooms where editors can meet one-on-one with the exhibitors. For those seeking more information on PCMCIA technology, there will be a panel discussion on Monday, Nov. 15 at 2:30 p.m.
The PCMCIA is a non-profit international association with more than 475 members. It is actively supporting the deployment of products based on the PC Card standard designed for the portable PC marketplace. Those products include cards for I/O, memory, wireless fax/modems, LANs and mass storage.
