Metrowerks Ships New Magic Cap Development Tools in Codewarrior 7
AUSTIN, TEXAS — September 13, 1995 — Metrowerks Inc. Wednesday announced the release of the CodeWarrior(TM) 7 Gold development tools for multiple platforms including Magic Cap(TM) application development.
The Magic Cap operating system is developed by General Magic, Inc. and runs on hand-held computers generally known as PDAs (or personal digital assistants) including Sony's Magic Link(TM) Personal Intelligent Communicator and Motorola's Envoy(TM) Wireless Communicator.
CodeWarrior 7 includes the new universal "plug-and-play" CodeWarrior Integrated Development Environment (IDE), a versatile software development environment allowing programmers to write software in C, C++, and Object Pascal with options to target the Mac(TM)OS, Magic Cap, Windows(TM)95 and Windows NT(TM) computing platforms from within a single application.
CodeWarrior 7 Gold includes an array of tools to help programmers build Magic Cap-based applications:
-a preliminary developer release of the plug-in C compiler and linker running within the new universal CodeWarrior IDE – the developer release to be updated for the General Magic Developers' Conference in October
-an MPW(R)-based C compiler and linker allowing Magic Cap developers to work within Apple Computer's Macintosh Programmer's Workshop (MPW)
-General Magic's object-oriented development system
-a Magic Cap OS simulator – a development version of the Magic Cap OS that runs on the Macintosh(R). The majority of development and debugging takes place on the Macintosh.
"With the advent of full support for Magic Cap development in CodeWarrior's new universal 'plug-and-play' IDE, developing PDA-based applications has never been easier," said Greg Galanos, President and CEO of Metrowerks. "We believe we now have the very best development tools for any hand-held computing device on the market today." Pricing and Availability
