Apple Launches Newton MessagePad 120 Features GSM Solution for Wireless Communications
February 17, 1995 — Apple Computer Inc has announced the Newton MessagePad 120, the first PDA with full GSM connectivity. The Newton MessagePad 120 features a 2MB configuration, with improved industrial design and screen clarity, as well as a variety of new applications from third party developers and StarCore, Apple's Newton software publishing and distribution arm.
The GSM software, built into the MessagePad 120, will enable users to wirelessly transmit facsimile messages, send and receive e-mail, and access information services such as Compuserve from remote locations at any time.
"We are very pleased to be offering this GSM capability to the growing number of corporates now using the Apple Newton MessagePad as a data capture device," said Craig Sears-Black, director of PIE, Apple Computer UK.
