Extensive Software Applications Available to Support Motorola NewsCard
BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. — September 22, 1994 — Motorola's Paging Products Group today announced the availability of extensive software applications which support its NewsCard(TM) Wireless Data Receiver(TM). With NewsCard, wireless messaging, E-mail and information services are now a reality for users of portable computers, personal digital assistants (PDA's) and personal communication devices with a PCMCIA Type II interface.
The software applications, developed by Motorola and leading software vendors give NewsCard users seamless access to "Information On The Move"(TM) and will allow them to better leverage many of their existing software applications, such as spreadsheets and databases. Most Windows(TM) applications (e.g., MS Word(TM), MS Notepad(TM), MS Write(TM)) can now access NewsCard messages directly.
The NewsCard software list includes Windows(TM) Message Viewer, Zoomer Wireless Message Manager, NewsCard for Organizer(TM) E-Mail Connection(TM), Mobile Era(TM) Communicator, Mobile Era(TM) Paging, Mobile Express(TM), Portable DataLink(TM), WinBEEP(TM) 2.1 Pro, Apple(R) Newton(TM) Viewer, EMBARC(SM) Zoomer(TM) Viewer, HP StarLink(TM), and U.S. Paging's Radio Express(TM) messaging software. In addition, Motorola has announced the availability of a NewsCard Software Developer's Kit which contains extensive documentation, software enablers, sample programs and selected applications.

NewsCard is distributed as an OEM product through computer manufacturers and paging service providers. NewsCard is now supported on various platforms including Apple Newton MessagePad, Casio Z-7000, Tandy Z-PDA and AST GRiD 2390 PDA's, Bellsouth Simon(TM) personal communicator, Hewlett-Packard 100LX palmtop computer and most Windows-based portable computers.

– Windows application which uses a simple user interface to view, save and delete wireless messages received on a NewsCard.
– Zoomer Wireless Message Manager
– Enables any Tandy, Casio, or AST GRiD PDA to be used as a portable message receiver; it allows the user to view, save, and delete NewsCard messages using a pen interface.
– NewsCard for Organizer
– Adds the ability for the standard Lotus(R) Organizer to accept wireless messages directly into Lotus Organizer sections (custom tabs are configurable) where the messages can be viewed or searched like any information in an Organizer section.
