Notable Technologies Delivers Mobile Access-Personal

SAN FRANCISCO — August 2, 1993 — Notable Technologies Inc., a leading developer and publisher of software for mobile pen-based computers and personal communicators, Monday announced availability of its flagship product, Mobile Access-Personal, the first communications program that links pen-based computers to the extensive "infobase" stored on public and private host computer systems and networks.

Designed for GO Corp.'s PenPoint Operating System, Mobile Access provides a simple, elegant solution for accessing on-line information and sending and receiving documents over cellular, 2-way radio or land-based phone-line connections.

"Mobile Access-Personal offers users tremendous choice and flexibility in accessing private, corporate and public information sources. It's the first off-the-shelf product that provides systems like AT&T's EO Personal Communicators with complete connectivity and on-line access to corporate information structures, E-mail systems, desktop computers and information delivery services, such as CompuServe, MCI Mail, AT&T Easylink, the Internet, Nexis, Dow Jones News Retrieval, and many, many others," said Ron Brown, president and chief executive officer of Notable Technologies. "A new generation of mobile pen-based personal communications devices running on PenPoint are just now reaching the marketplace. Mobile Access is a critical enabling communications package for these systems."

Affordably priced at $195, Mobile Access brings information to the point of decision-making quickly and easily. Functioning as a terminal emulator, Mobile Access provides for point-to-point communications, including on-line viewing of information and file transfer and exchange. It can be used to access mobile, desktop, minicomputer and mainframe-based environments, using customizable terminal emulations, inculding TTY and VT100. Mobile Access provides connectivity via popular document transfer protocols, including Text/ASCII, X-, Y-, Z-MODEM and Kermit. Mobile Access is designed for use on mobile pen-based systems based on either AT&T Hobbit or Intel X86 processors.

Mobile Access fully capitalizes on the PenPoint O/S, offering users a graphical "see, recognize and do" interface that eases the process of establishing a connection and sending or receiving documents. The application includes a highly innovative use of the familiar "drag and drop" metaphor allowing users to capture and reuse text to create commands. A handy snippets list gives users instant access to frequently used terminal commands and minimizes the need for handwriting input. Also, there are several "soft" keyboards available for the various terminal types supported.

"Mobile Access unlocks the full communications potential of our new AT&T EO systems," said Steve Chisholm, the emerging mobile technologies analyst for Genentech Corp., a leading biotechnology company based in South San Francisco, which participated in a beta pilot program. "Mobile Access will allow Genentech's executives and sales force to use a PenPoint systen to easily and directly connect into our ALL-IN-1 E-Mail system or a company bulletin board. That means truly mobile communications, whether they're in a sales meeting, on an airplane or at the beach."

Dave Larson, vice president of worldwide marketing and sales operations at Notable Technologies said, "A new wave of computing has finally arrived with the introduction of AT&T's EO Personal Communicator and other hand-held pen-based devices. Clearly, improved mobile communications is the point of these new systems. Mobile-Access Personal is a critical enabler because it allows direct communications between the existing infostructure and these new devices."

Mobile Access-Personal is part of a Mobile Access family of products being developed by Notable Technologies. The product line is designed to add communications functionality and flexibilty to mobile communications devices.
