Spectrum Announces EO Inc. Connection at Industry’s Largest Computer Show

MANHASSET, N.Y. — December 4, 1992 — With the release of EO Inc.'s Personal Communicator at COMDEX in Las Vegas last month, Spectrum Information Technologies Inc. gained another stronghold in the communications technology market.

EO utilizes Spectrum's patented AXSYS cellular phone module in the Personal Communicator 440 and 880. The module permits the Personal Communicator to access faxes, electronic mail and desktop PC files via the Personal Communicator which weighs in as low as 2.2 pounds.

Alain Rossman, EO chief executive, notes, ''Our customers want communication anytime anywhere. What we see is a unique opportunity to integrate many of (these) person-to-person technologies in our latest products.''

According to Peter Caserta, Spectrum's president and chief executive officer, ''The new EO communicator further represents the growth of and demand for cellular data communications products into the future, all made possible by Spectrum's patented proprietary technology.''

Smaller than a deck of cards, AXSYS is the first and only product of its kind designed to enable the use of the cellular network for reliable data transfer. AXSYS easily connects to any AXSYS-compatible modem and cellular phone, providing automatic cellphone control and clean link to the cellular network.

At the heart of every EO Personal Communicator is a high-performance, low-power AT&T Hobbit RISC processor running at 13 MIPS on the EO 440 and 20 MIPS on the EO 880. Handwriting and gesture recognition are virtually instantaneous. Calculations and graphic redraws are completed many times faster than on compatible 386-based systems. The communicators weigh only 2.2 lbs. (EO 440) and 4.0 lbs., and come complete with PenPoint and 9 applications in ROM.

Spectrum has established itself as a leader in developing, marketing and supporting integrated wireless data communications systems using patented technology and proprietary methods to enhance productivity and effectiveness among mobile executive and field forces. Spectrum is a NASDAQ-listed company (NASDAQ:NMS:SPCL).
